In 1961 the surrrounding property was divided into smaller lots. Three were sold and the rest remained until the 80's when they were sold, leaving 3.2 acres that the house sits on now.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5523358610198468233.post-22909495810393883942009-11-27T11:05:04.195-08:002009-11-27T11:05:04.195-08:00There was another estate at 41st and Lewis that ri...There was another estate at 41st and Lewis that rivaled this at one time. In the mid-seventies the perimeter was subdivided into single family lots and smaller, 3000-5000sf mansions were set at the corner. The main house is still very imposing, but it's just not the same as the original property.DrillerAA09https://www.blogger.com/profile/15970703268465061545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5523358610198468233.post-66672341296308627782009-11-26T09:38:19.148-08:002009-11-26T09:38:19.148-08:00Driller, Sidney - Taking the photo straight on fro...Driller, Sidney - Taking the photo straight on from the front got everything in the picture but lost the feeling of spaciousness. I don't know for sure if all 50 acres are still part of the estate but I would not doubt it. When you see the whole thing it is pretty awesome. I should have done a long shot to get the sweep of things.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10390386422182379201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5523358610198468233.post-75656754602752246572009-11-25T15:41:57.691-08:002009-11-25T15:41:57.691-08:00Does the house still sit on 50 acres?Does the house still sit on 50 acres?Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01759671151503027256noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5523358610198468233.post-73288068918316124872009-11-25T10:36:53.609-08:002009-11-25T10:36:53.609-08:00In all honesty, I'm not sure that the new entr...In all honesty, I'm not sure that the new entry surround is a good addition. I liked the house set back in the trees. The ballustrade seems a bit chunky and out of scale to the residence beyond. It does provide a nice place to hang the greenery of Christmas, but I'm not sure that I find it that attractive year 'round.DrillerAA09https://www.blogger.com/profile/15970703268465061545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5523358610198468233.post-62295118547838749412009-11-25T05:06:04.824-08:002009-11-25T05:06:04.824-08:00That is a very handsome house. That is a very handsome house.Yogi♪♪♪https://www.blogger.com/profile/00411274031147372579noreply@blogger.com
