No doubt it is all for the best; still, it is sad to see an old friend go.
When the original cornerstone was opened a Time Capsule was discovered with papers and momentos from 75 years ago. Read about it HERE.

Clinton was first built as a high school for the Red Fork District in 1925. When Daniel Webster High School opened in 1938 it became Clinton Junior High School, then later Clinton Middle School. I taught 7th and 8th grade mathematics and general science at Clinton in 1966 and 1967 and wanted to see what it looked like now. I arrived just in time to see some large machines tearing down the walls. I felt a little sad but then looked at the large new school being built to replace it.

That is what we do in this country, rather than try and preserve the old, we tear it down and build over. It will be a nice facility for the youngsters who attend school here. Perhaps in 75 or 80 years from now someone will see this new one torn down and be sorry to see it go.

  1. I WENT TO PORTER,CLINTON, AND WEBSTER. I EVEN ATTENDED PARK ELEMENTRY FOR A FEW YEARS BEFORE IT WAS REBUILT. I WAS STRUCK WITH A FEELING OF SADNESS WHEN I SEEN CLINTON TORN DOWN. OH WELL, OUT WITH THE OLD , IN WITH THE NEW.

  2. I attended Park and Clinton, its a shame that the quaint, elegant designs of schools can't be kept when building the new. I've found a photo of the 4 room "little building" of Park, but have not found any photos of the "big building" that was originally Red Fork High School. Maybe someone in Southwest Tulsa could post a photo of both schools?

    1. You found a photo of the original "little building" of Park High School? could I dearly love to have a copy of it. My father was the President/Editor of the last High School class held in that old building. I have a copy of the only yearbook published there, before the high school moved into the new Park High School (which then became Park Elementary). our family moved into Red Fork right before OK statehood. All six kids in the family went thru Park Elementary, Clinton & Webster. My email address is clpearre@verizon.net Would love to hear from you.

    2. Anonymous: I failed to mention in my last post - I do have a photo of the front of newer/big Red Fork High School building (taken when building had become Park Elementary). Am willing to email a copy to you.

    3. I have a couple of pics of both the Park Elementary buildings. I posted them on FB. I can't figure out how to put them on here or I would. If you look me up on FB I'll post them again so you can get them.

  3. I went by Clinton just as it was being demolished. It is a shame to tear down an historic building to replace it weth something not nearly as nice. Thanks for your comment.

    1. I taught math and science at Clinton in 1966 and 1967. I think that was before the teachers you mentioned. I enjoyed my time there and would like to see the new school.
